Piccoli Kandinskij crescono

Ciao a tutti!

Vi chiederete cosa abbiamo combinato in questi giorni… Ci siamo presi un po’ di freddo per le strade di Rm. Vâlcea e ci siamo crogiolati sul divano la sera, ma soprattutto abbiamo cominciato le attività nella Casa del Sorriso di Ocnele Mari!

Eccoci qui davanti al centro con le educatrici Katy e Claudia:

In questi primi giorni abbiamo avuto l’occasione di iniziare a conoscere meglio i bambini e di strutturare gradualmente le attività. Ogni giorno, dopo aver pranzato con i bambini, abbiamo giocato con i più piccoli mentre Katy e Claudia si occupavano dei compiti con i più grandi, che ci raggiungevano più tardi mano a mano che finivano.

I bambini hanno tutti una gran voglia di giocare. Con i più piccoli, ci siamo trovati subito bene: anche loro ci aiutavano spiegandosi i giochi tra loro, rimediando alla nostra ancora carente conoscenza di rumeno! I più grandicelli negli scorsi giorni sono stati davvero sommersi di compiti, quindi purtroppo non abbiamo potuto giocare granché. Per fortuna, oggi i loro insegnanti sono stati più clementi e siamo riusciti a fare delle belle attività con tutti i bambini, nonostante il grande range di età (dai 6 ai 15 anni).

Abbiamo proposto diverse attività: bans, giochi per conoscersi meglio e per rompere il ghiaccio, giochi per imparare qualche parola d’inglese (e, soprattutto, per noi di rumeno!), giochi più movimentati e momenti di disegno.

I disegni sono stati uno strumento importante sia per far divertire ed esprimere i bambini, sia per noi per conoscere qualcosa in più di loro. In particolare, in un’attività i bambini ci hanno raccontato quello che gli piace attraverso il loro nome, usato come acronimo. Ecco qui i risultati:

Tra i termini più gettonati ci sono stati i dolci, compresi lecca-lecca, nutella e gelato, ma anche la natura, con diversi animali, nuvole e sole che hanno riscosso un grande successo. Qualcuno è stato più moderno, indicando computer, internet e cinema, mentre altri più intellettuali, inserendo libri, librerie ed enciclopedie. Ovviamente ci sono molti fan dello sport e della musica, ma in queste due categorie ci sembra doveroso menzionare il Baschet e BonGovi. Il più tenero? Chi tra le cose che gli piacciono ha inserito il suo papà.

I bambini hanno anche sfoggiato le loro doti artistiche mostrandoci i loro animali preferiti, in foto sopra (il grigio ammasso informe, in caso ve lo stiate chiedendo, è un elefante in chiave astratta). Tra le altre attività, i copii hanno decorato la sagoma della propria mano con i colori di quello che gli piacerebbe assaggiare, toccare, vedere, ascoltare ed annusare. Ne sono uscite delle belle, ma a me ha colpito il bambino che vorrebbe toccare le nuvole!

Nei prossimi due giorni, cominceremo sia il corso di rumeno sia le attività al centro di Copa Celu… non vediamo l’ora! Prossimi obiettivi? Progettare attività a lungo termine, inserendo elementi di teatro, lingua inglese e lingua dei segni.

Hi everyone!

You’re probably wondering what we’ve been doing… We got cold in the streets of Rm. Vâlcea and we relaxed on our couch in the evenings, but most importantly we started the activities in Ocnele Mari center! In the picture, you can see us and the educators Katy and Claudia in front of the center.

During these first days, we’ve had the chance to start knowing better the kids and gradually plan the activities. Everyday, after lunch with the kids, we played with the youngest ones while Katy and Claudia looked after the others doing their homework before joining us.

The kids were all very eager to play. With the yougest ones, we kicked it off well from the start: they were helping us by explaning the games to each other, thus fixing out lack of knowedge of Romanian! The “bigger” kids had been really overwhelmed by a lot of homework in the last days, so unfortunately we couldn’t play with them much. Luckily, today their teachers have been nicer and we could do a nice activity with all the children, in spite of the wide range of age (from 6 to 15 years).

We’ve proposed various activities: bans, games to get to know each other, ice breakers, games to learn some words in English (and for us in Romanian), more active games, and drawings.

The drawings have been an important tool both for the kids’ entertainment and expression, but also for us to learn something more about them. In particular, in one activity the kids told us what they liked through their name, used as an acronym. In the pictures, you can see the results.

Among the most popular words, there were sweets, like lollipops, chocolate, and ice-cream, but also nature was a successful category, including many animals, clouds, and the sun. Some kids have been more “modern”, writing down words like computer, internet, and cinema, while others were more “intellectual” and listed books, bookshops, and encyclopedias. Obviously, many were sport or music funs, but in these two categories the two most notable examples were “baschet” and “BonGovi”. The loveliest? The one who wrote down his dad!

The children also showed off their artistic talent drawing their favourite animal. In picture, you can also admire a gray unclear sketch, which is an abstract elephant, of course. In another activity, the copii have decorated their hand’s outline with the colours of things they would like to taste, touce, see, hear, and smell. They thought about great things, but I was most stricken by the kid who wanted to touch the clouds!

Lastly, you can look at the pictures of the “collective drawings”, to which every kid has contributed, and some body-painting art.

In the next two days, we’ll start a Romanian language class and activities in the Copacelu center… we can’t wait! Next goals? To plan long-term activities, with elements of theatre, English language, and sign language.
